Christian Resource Network, Inc. has a new face and focus. Many of you attended Christian Resource Network, Inc. breakfast conferences in those early years beginning in the year 2000. Our first breakfast meeting was held at New Beginning Church of God, Dorchester, in the sanctuary and they catered breakfast and lunch for our entire team.
During those years, our yearly and/or semi-yearly breakfast conferences spanned over two days. The first day was a late-evening service which included an anointed singer to start us off, preaching, testimonies, and prayers for healing. The second day we had singers, a choir, speakers at the breakfast, including myself, small group discussion, sharing and prayer. Those were great days.
Following these breakfast meetings, the organization started a meetup group for young women with mental illness, but after two years, we ended the group because the women were no longer committed to dates and times. This led the organization to conduct a series of mental health awareness meetings at the Codman Square Library, followed by three support group meetings which took place at the Codman Square library, the Mattapan library, and the Grove Hall Libraries. Although an in-person community support group was needed, we found it difficult to continue on that path. We started a Facebook support group for caretakers and we are evaluating this group at this time.
On June 2, 2018, Christian Resource Network, Inc. invited you, its long-time followers, and others, to a celebration-of-life luncheon. You have meant so much to our organization and to me. Everyone shared his/her celebration of life journey and we prayed together. I believe that day marked the beginning of a change of face and focus for our organization.
Now, Christian Resource Network, Inc. has a new face and focus. Although our breakfast programs were great, I believe God is calling us to a different style and type of programming even during this pandemic. God is calling us to focus on the needs of young women with disabilities who are in dire need of help. We have redesigned our website at https://www.christianresourcenetwork.org and we are in the process of starting a basic educational program, with art and culture, for young women with disabilities. We feel that a blend of basic education with art, dance, writing, and interaction will bring about self-esteem, self-expression, confidence, and dignity to young women. We are excited about this new focus and the success that it will bring to these young women.
Thank you for your past attendance at our breakfast meetings and for your contributions, which helped our cash flow tremendously. We ask for your continued prayers as we establish our virtual classes.
May God continue to bless you.
