I have been waiting on God for a breakthrough for our daughter for many years. I have tried everything, but she shows progress at times and regresses at other times. It has been a troubling experience and makes me think I am wasting my time. However, I have decided to maintain my faith in God and do his will. These are the reasons for exercising my faith.
1. I am running this race looking unto Jesus, the perfecter of my faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2 states, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
These verses tell us that in life’s struggles, it is essential to focus on Jesus, who is the source and perfecter of our faith. Keeping our eyes on Him helps us endure trials, knowing that He endured much greater suffering for our sake. Jesus is the ultimate example of perseverance and trust in God’s plan. By focusing on Him, you strengthen your faith and find the endurance to continue running your race, even when the journey feels overwhelming. His example gives us hope that our perseverance will bear fruit in God’s time.
2. God Has a Plan, and He Will Reveal It in His Time
Jeremiah 29:11 states, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Ecclesiastes 3:11 states, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
These verses remind us that God’s timing is perfect, even when we do not understand it. We often want immediate answers or results, but God sees the bigger picture and works all things according to His plan. Trusting in His timing allows me to have peace, even when things do not progress the way I expect with my daughter. God is not late; He will reveal His purpose and plan when the time is right. Holding onto this promise keeps me hopeful and grounded in my faith, knowing that He is in control.
3. I Will Continue to Run After God and Do His Will
Matthew 6:33 states, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Psalm 37:4-5 states, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”
The above verses show me that seeking God first is a powerful act of faith. Focus should not be on the breakthrough but on God Himself. Running after God, seeking His presence, and doing His will align with His plans and purposes. As you and I continue to live in obedience, trusting Him, He promises to provide for our needs. Even when you and I do not immediately see changes in our situation, pursuing God assures us that we are in step with His purpose, which brings peace and fulfillment beyond circumstances.
4. I Will Continue to Pray, and I Believe God Will Hear My Prayer
1 John 5:14-15 states that, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
Philippians 4:6-7 states, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Prayer is one of the most powerful tools of faith. These verses give us confidence that God hears our prayers, especially when they align with His will. Even if answers seem delayed, God is attentive to every plea we bring before Him. Prayer not only brings results but also changes our hearts, giving us peace that surpasses understanding. As you and I continue to pray for our situation to change, we are not only making our requests known to God but also allowing His peace to strengthen us in the waiting process. This peace guards our heart, helping us remain steadfast in faith.
In summary, while waiting on God, it is essential to keep your focus on Jesus, trust in His perfect timing, pursue His will, and maintain a vibrant prayer life. These practices help us remain anchored in our faith, even when breakthroughs seem delayed. Trust that God is working behind the scenes, refining us in ways that are ultimately for our good and for His glory. We should stay encouraged and steadfast, knowing that God is faithful, and His plans will unfold in His time.
