Recently, I celebrated my life and had so many reasons to thank God for my life, my family members in my life, my extended family, and all my friends who had impacted my life. I thanked God for my special-needs daughter and how God used her to allow me to see his workmanship in me. It was the little things that seemed insignificant, that were important.
I thought of the times that friends and family gathered at our home for cookouts, christenings, birthdays, graduations, and at other venues when we had a wedding anniversary, our children’s weddings, the times that we went from house to house praying for one another, the times that we gathered for banquets or for tea, the times we traveled together or the times that we prayed one for another. I paid attention to friends and family who supported me by attending Christian Resource Network conferences or a Pastor and his wife who hosted our first conference at their church and cooked breakfast and lunch for the attendees for a small fee. I was a member of a small church where I became a Deacon, and I was asked to preach when the pastor was on vacation. The leader in charge of the women also asked me to participate at the women’s retreat, and to lead workshops. Those opportunities impacted my life profoundly and were instrumental in shaping my life, telling others how great God is, and how he loves us all.
May you look at the little things that God has given you and thank God for them, for those little things that seemed insignificant may be important for your spiritual growth and development. May God bless you this Thanksgiving.
