As special needs mothers and/or parents, we make our circumstances central to our lives. Of course, our children are important especially when they have significant problems, but God has called us to a unique purpose.
For years, I have complained or have gone through pity parties when friends or family members would ask me how my daughter was doing. I would explain what was happening and then I would receive what I did not want to hear-get her situated elsewhere. I had tried that and more and concluded that my daughter’s situation was in God’s hands and so I started writing and speaking at libraries. When the pandemic started, I recognized that my situation would get worse because my daughter would be at home full time, but instead, I continued to do God’s work whenever I could. It has not been easy, but Jesus said: He is the way, the truth, and the way, and surely, He has been the way in my life (John 14:6).
When we concentrate on God and not on our circumstances, God makes a way out for us that we never could have accomplished on our own. Concentrate on God by reading His word, praying, worshiping, and thanking God in all circumstances for this is His will concerning you (1 Thess. 5:16-18). He would energize you, give you joy, peace, and purpose that you never realized. Begin to help others. He said to love your neighbor as yourself, so by helping others, you are applying love to your neighbors. May God bless you as you concentrate on Him.
