As a special-needs mom, it is extremely important to exercise faith as you walk this life-journey with your child/adult. The reason is that this walk is a lonely walk, and it becomes tiring and overwhelming, and you may get discouraged when you do not have God on your side.
Faith is the confidence and hope that we have about our children even though we have not seen it. By faith we know that God made this universe and everything in it (Hebrews 11).
As we care for our special-needs children/adults, we must look to God for strength because there are days when help is needed. This help comes from Philippians 4:13 and states that we can do all things in Christ who strengthens us. We should also hope in God, who renews our strength and gives us extra zeal like eagles so we can do our tasks as mothers (Isaiah 40:31). When we ask God for help, He becomes our refuge, and our present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Have you had troublesome days with your special needs son or daughter, but God sent someone at the nick of time to pull you out of your dilemma? I remember taking my daughter by taxi to her medical appointment and she was irritable, and I did not know what to do. I called out to him, and he sent a woman who came up to me and said that she would cancel the doctor’s appointment as she was a medical assistant in the department where we were going. She also helped us into a taxi which had just pulled up. God was definitely a present help in trouble.
God gave us this difficult assignment to care for our children, God’s children. God knew before the foundation of the world that he had these tasks for us, so we must accept them with joy as we are doing this for God. God began this work, and He will complete it; we should not fear (Philippians 1:6). God wants us to submit all of our issues to Him with prayer and thanksgiving and he would bless us with peace that would guide our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
Keep up the great work. May God continue to bless you.
