Many of you know that my writing began with journaling, and my journaling began with taking mini trips by myself to hear from God while coping with my busy life as wife and mother. Taking mini trips has helped me tremendously. During this year alone, I have gone on two of these retreats.
I felt that on my third retreat, that I will take my daughter Em with me. I felt that God was telling me to step out of my comfort zone and do something different. I knew I needed help, so I asked my son Rese to accompany us, so he spent the first night with us. Our time together was wonderful. Em was hesitant to get in the hot tub, but I gently encouraged her to get in and there she was. We watched as Rese did his laps. The three of us had dinner together at the hotel’s restaurant, and the next morning had breakfast together. It was great having someone there to help me, but after breakfast, Rese had to return to work, and I had to exercise faith. I introduced her to the hot tub again, and she entered the tub without fear.
At times, we must step out of our comfort zones to see what God wants to do in our lives as well as in the lives of our family. What God was saying to me was: Introduce Em to something new. She is my child and I have great things for her also, but someone must show her the way. I recognize that sometimes I need time alone and time to rest. Whenever I am able, I take Em for a walk at local parks. Taking walks is faith in action.
