Closing the Gap

We all face times when we feel gloomy and times when we feel happy. But wouldn’t be better when we close the gap and choose to feel normal?

We choose to feel normal even in tough times when we look to God for guidance instead of looking to ourselves. We have feelings and these thoughts are not reflections of who we are and who God made us to be. God made us in His own image and likeness, and He made us with a will to live and love others. He did not promise that we will always have it easy, but He promised that He will always be there, and that He would take our burdens, so we do not shoulder them alone.

Why do we feel so burdened over life-issues? We are humans and we resort to viewing things from a human perspective. When we turn things over to God by putting everything in his hands, we can move forward because we know that God has not forgotten us and that He will work things out for His glory. The reason that we can be at ease is because God is our Father, and we are His children; a father cares for His children and he will never abandon them.

As parents of special needs children, we go through the pain and the processes of dealing with our children in unusual ways. Sometimes, dealing with their pain transfers to us, parents, where we feel overwhelmed, lonely,  guilty, and angry for being in our situations. However, we need not subject ourselves to these emotions; God is on our side. He has never left us or forsaken us. God loves us. We must be strong and be courageous as parents. (Joshua 1:5). In doing so, we close the gap between sadness and happiness, and we carry ourselves as ambassadors for Christ in our homes.
